Secret Santa’s Big Reveal!

21 Dec

Secret Santa - Pittie Posse

The big day has arrived! It’s finally time to announce which of our Pittie Posse friends was our Secret Santa, and which friend we…Secret Santa-ed (ok, so that’s not really a verb).

Last year, Emily from Our Waldo Bungie emailed a few of us and suggested the brilliant idea of doing a gift exchange and blogging about it, and thus the Pittie Posse Secret Santa was born. This year was the 2nd time we’ve done this fun gift exchange, and we added three new bloggers to the mix, bringing the total to 10, so once you’re done reading about gift giving and receiving, head over to the other participants’ blogs to see what they gave and received too!

Now for the good stuff. We consider ourselves very lucky to have received a gift from one of the three newbies, Two Kitties One Pittie! They went all out on this one, and we absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE our gifts! To start off, the card is a beautiful, unique card from La Familia Green.

Hooray!

Accompanying our wonderful card was a small gift for Lucy that she is gnawing on as I write this post – a deer antler from Lynchburger Pet Products!

But there was also something in the package for me! La Familia Green, who made the greeting card, was also “commissioned,” if you will, to create a handmade collage inspired by this photo:

I Love Lucy

Are you ready to see the stunning result? I was so thrilled and excited, I ran right out and had it framed!

It has Lucy’s infamous chocolate truffles (with a little note to my Lucy: “Don’t eat these!”), her Carmen Miranda headpiece, a bottle of the very potent “Vitameatavegimin,” Lucy’s iconic red hair, apron and logo. The attention to detail, down to my Lucy’s special markings and beautiful collar, is impeccable and brilliant.

And as if that wasn’t enough, because believe me, it was, they also made a generous donation to Bully Project! Something for Lucy, something for me, and something for countless other dogs in the New York City area. This really was the best gift I could have ever dreamed of!

Now head over to Kate With A Camera to see what I got for her. Here’s a hint (especially for Kate):

And then follow the internet trail down the line…

Secret Santa Likes Everything in Twos

Happy Pittie Posse Secret Santa Gift Exchange Reveal Day!

Apparently, Secret Santa though it would be fun to give our gift exchange a theme…of the number Two. Our Secret Santa turned out to Two Pitties in the City, who got us an AWESOME treat jar that they had personalized just for us! How cool is this: they went on our blog, found a picture of Lucy, and turned that into a stencil, which they then painted directly onto the jar! Check it out:

They stuffed it full of Old Mother Hubbard dog treats (some of Lucy’s faves!) and sent it along with the most adorable postcard of Miss M – is that a smile I see, Miss M? What they could not have known when making this jar is that I have used the color red in my living room as an accent color – so it fits our home PERFECTLY!

So thank you Miss M, Mr B, A & E! You guys rock! The blogger that we had to get a gift for (sticking with our theme of “Two”) was Two Grad Students and a Pittie! Go check out their blog to see what we got for them! Our gift exchange did have a suggested budget, which we sort of broke, BUT we justify it because we were lucky enough that our recipient lives in the same city as us, so we didn’t have to pay for shipping! So we’re all even!

And after you check out what they got from us, go check out what everyone else got! The rest of this year’s participants are:

Love and a Six-Foot Leash

Our Waldo Bungie

Pittieful Love

Twenty-Six to Life

Two Pitties in the City

Happy Holidays everyone!

Holiday Gifts that Give Back!

16 Dec

We love compiling lists of products and we were excited to create this list of great gifts that will also help animals in need:

We adore StubbyDog and their mission, so of course, first on our list is their Superhero Calendar. If your order is placed by today, the calendar will arrive in time for Christmas!

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Especially bars called Peanut Butter Pit Bull and Foster-iffic Peppermint! Rescue Chocolate founder Sarah Gross donates 100% of net profits to non-profit animal rescue organizations. Proceeds from bars purchased in this month will be donated to one of our favorite groups, Animal Farm Foundation. Check out this news story about the bars and AFF.
The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals might not be a shelter, but they are responsible for assisting so many of our city’s shelters and rescues with their missions of saving as many lives as possible. This holiday, they offer two ways to give presents that give back! First, SocialPakt has teamed up with local artist, Liz Haywood, and has designed a tee that features the expressive faces of eighteen unique dogs and cats. Shirts are $20 and SocialPakt will donate 30% to the Alliance.

Next up, Alex and Ani created an exclusive expandable wire paw prints bangle for $28 with 20% of proceeds going to the Alliance!
And last but not least, two wonderful books from Melissa McDaniel, DeafDogs and Pit Bull Photo Book.  10% of proceeds will be donated to animal rescue groups. I am sure most of you will recognize lots of dogs in the Pit Bull Photo Book!

Announcing the Pittie Posse Secret Santa!

12 Dec

Our friend Emily over at Our Waldo Bungie had the brilliant idea that a few of us “pittie bloggers” join forces for the holiday season and play Secret Santa!

The participants are:

Us here at That Touch of Pit

Of course, Emily at Our Waldo Bungie

Kate from Twenty-Six to Life

Aleksandra from Love and a Six-Foot Leash

Alexa at Two Grad Students and a Pittie

A from Two Pitties in the City

Jessica at Pittieful Love (to whom we owe thanks for getting us involved in this little game!)

So keep reading here and at our six friends’ blogs listed above. Anytime you see our “Pittie Posse Secret Santa” logo (created by Daniel, also from Our Waldo Bungie!) – you know we’re talking about our gift exchange. We all hope you guys like this little experiment, and if you do – maybe we can make it annual thing! Hooray!

Speaking of gifts…anyone got any ideas?! What do you think would make a great gift for a pittie lover?
