No Big Surprise Here!

5 Mar

Well, as we predicted, it didn’t take us very long to get Archer adopted. With his cute mug and winning personality, we knew it would only be a matter of days before he found his new home. And he has!

When we rescued Archer, he had kennel cough and what we thought was ringworm, so he went straight into quarantine boarding at our vet’s office for treatment. All of our foster homes have resident dogs, so we didn’t want to risk him infecting any other pups. While he was living at the vet, we had them do thorough tests to see what this round, hairless, mass-looking-thing on his hind leg was and to make sure everything else was working normally.

Well, the diagnosis was better that we thought: the mass is a histiocytoma. Basically, it’s a benign mass that will dissipate over the course of 6-8 weeks. Nothing to worry about there, and he was quickly getting over his kennel cough, too. He’d be ready for a home soon! So when we knew he was okay to be around other dogs, we brought him up to our event at Furry Fiends in Inwood this past week, and had made an appointment for a potential adopter to meet us there as well.

Well, at first glace, they knew he was the one for them and they were the adopters for him. Archer, who’s new name is Robert Archer aka Bob, showed off all his best traits: his overt friendliness with people and dogs, his ability to calm down and settle quickly, his lack of desire to bark. He was great and won over his new dads with ease! Congrats Bob! Have a wonderful life!

Many thanks to West Village Veterinary Hospital for taking such great care of Archer while he was there. Also, thanks to the Deja Foundation for helping Bully Project cover the costs of Archer’s medical bills.
