Adoptable Pitties of the Week: Toyota & Pups

6 Dec

Toyota is one lucky Momma. She immediately melted the hearts of me and my co-workers from Animal Haven when we met her at a municipal shelter. She came in as a “stray” along with other younger females who all were a little on the skinny side. Of course, I had to say hello to these sweet, but shy, pitties. Although many dogs have been picked up from the same address, they needed to be kept on “stray hold.” So, we were about to say our goodbyes and as we said “next time” girls, I noticed the older girl was pregnant. I asked if we could please take her so she didn’t have to give birth at a municipal shelter. The staff at this shelter are awesome (even when they need to follow rules) and wanted what was best for this girl and her future pups.

We leashed her up and took her into the car with the other dogs we were taking back to Animal Haven. She was as sweet as sugar and quickly fell asleep at the shelter’s trainer, Katrina’s, feet. As we were getting closer to the shelter, Katrina screams, “There is a puppy!” Momma gently and quietly pushed out her first pup, named Prius – after the make of car she was in. We carefully moved her and her new pup into the “nursery” where she continued to give birth in a safe, warm comfortable environment.

Mom and pups are amazingly friendly creatures, which is impressive for mom since we don’t know if she had any love in her previous life. If you or anyone you know may be interested in meeting this sweet family and adopting one of them, please contact Animal Haven by phone at: (212) 274-8511.

Oh my goodness, sooooooo cute! I love how Carolla and Camry are completely brindle and the others are all white as snow! I wish I could scoop them up and cuddle all of them! I hope they find their families soon – especially Toyota – that girl deserves it!
