A few of our favorite things…

2 Dec

Each month, we will feature products and projects that we really enjoy, for a variety of reason. We hope you like them, too! First up is Josh:

1) SillyBuddy bow ties! I’m secretly hoping that I get to keep My Boy Bill long enough to get him one of these! I think he’d look absolutely dapper in one of these bowties. Do any of you have one of these for your pittie? We’d love to hear what you have to say about them, and see some pictures!

2) Best in Park’s Doggy Bowtie. Ok, so two different bowties in a row, I know. But I like these, too! They’re so cute! And my favorite part is that you don’t select the color of your choice – you give them the color of your dog’s fur and they send you the one that best coordinates! Brilliant.

3) Wildebeest’s XX Bandana Collar. It’s a very simple, and cute, way to dress up your pup for an adoption event, or a long walk around town. So, these clearly look cute on Aussies, so they’ll definitely be cuter on Pitties!

4) PetHub Link ScruffTag Buckle Collar. I’m very fortunate that I don’t know what it feels like to lose a pet. I could only imagine the stress, sorrow, and fear that a situation like that creates. I think that this is a brilliant way to use new technology to help expedite the return of your lost pet. When someone finds your pet, they can use the camera on their smartphone to scan a unique bar code and get access to whatever information you choose to share about them. You can include information like your phone number, email address, important meds, or dietary needs, and much more. All in a very simple, super cool looking, collar.

5) Garden in a Bag. Ok, so we had one pittie in mind when we stumbled across this product. During our free training classes with the Bully Project, we met one dog who was completely NOT treat motivated. All he wanted to do was eat the grass. That’s when our brilliant trainer, Ann King from Canine King, suggested to the dog’s handler to pick up a handful of grass and use that as his reward. Well, it worked! The team was working together better in minutes. If your dog likes grass, and you live in an urban environment like us, this is just the product for you!

6) Found My Animal. A new company dedicated to spreading awareness about the urgent need for animal adoption. They have brilliantly orange leashes, stylish collars,  and clever accessories for humans.

7) The Shelter Pet Project’s ad campaign. The new campaign features photos of adopted animals with a quote they might say, like: “Sometimes my human doesn’t wear pants at home. It’s a riot.” That comes from Colby, who looks like a Maltese mix and was adopted on June 18, 2011. Very funny, and a very smart way to promote animal adoption. Here are two more examples:

Now on to some of Jennifer’s recent favorites:

8) We love animal supporter, Katherine Heigl and this funny PSA about neutering. Katherine and her mother have a wonderful foundation, The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, that addresses pet overpopulation by funding and encouraging spaying and neutering, placing homeless animals in loving homes, providing financial assistance to shelters for medical programs, and much more!

9) Snoozer Loser X Project Pet Limited Edition Pitbull Tote. People need favorite things, too! We love this organic cotton tote.   Proceeds benefit a great NYC rescue, Project Pet, that is dedicated to finding homes for pit bulls. This is an awesome and handy way to show off pitties! This is perfect for me, no pittie on a leash, but I can have MANY on my shoulder!

10) Stubby Dog Art Auction. Who doesn’t love art? And, with pitties, it’s even better! These items for auction are great holiday gifts.  From photography to jewelry, and even handmade toys. All proceeds go to Stubby to help them change the perception of our favorite breed!

11) And, lastly, to make you smile on TGIF…Biggie Smalls!

And Miss M even has one she wears as a ‘hair bow’. She just wore it when she decided to dress up to explore downtown Chicago: http://pittiesincity.blogspot.com/2011/12/things-to-do-in-chicago-with-dogs.html
